I’m excited to share my first client showcase on this blog — a showcase of the branding and web design I created for Casey Hill Photography.
Casey Hill is a photographer based in Salem, Massachusetts capturing adventurous lovers and fans of all things spooky. As a local to Salem, she brings expertise on all of the best and most beautiful scenery and sites of Salem.
The main goal of this branding and web design project was shift Casey Hill Photography from a standard lifestyle photographer to a Salem local and expert with a focus on spooky photo shoots and adventurous elopements.
The key problem of this rebrand was creating a witchy, spooky brand that exudes the vibes of Salem, but that also isn’t off-putting to standard photography clients. Here aer some of the keywords that I honed in on during the strategy portion of developing Casey’s brand:
MAGICAL
INVITING
CANDID
WITCHY
BOHO
WHIMSICAL
PLAYFUL
SPOOKY
WARM
GOTHIC
CAREFREE
ARTISTIC
First, we developed her branding. One thing Casey was sure of was that she wanted to include a tarot card inspired design of “the photographer”. I had a ton of fun illustrating this custom design and mocking up some business card concepts.
Casey’s color palette is warm and fall-inspired. We also opted to include pops of gold foil as brand elements in addition to several spooky themed custom illustrations.
Casey started out her business with a Pixieset website, but she was ready to upgrade to something more custom and on-brand for her business with this rebrand. We moved her over to Showit, where I built a totally custom moody, shadowy, layered, boho and witchy website with pops of gold foil and texture. This website design is the perfect match for her niche as a spooky themed photographer, but still beautiful and welcoming for those who aren’t the biggest fan of spooky things.
Whenever I begin a Showit web design project, I start by designing two of the main website pages as mockups before diving into Showit and building out the whole website. This way, we’re able to nail down the vibe of the website and the general layout of things first. AND we’re able to make the most of the 2-week free trial (+ then my clients get my discount code for their first month of Showit free as well).
So after building out the website in Showit from start to finish, we connected her domain and her new website was live!
I also always equip my clients with a beautifully designed launch post to announce their new branding and web design. You can check out Casey’s post below:
Overall, I think we achieved beautiful branding and web design that are witchy, spooky, and moody brand that flows perfectly with Casey’s new branding photos and her beautiful photography.
But don’t take my word for it. Here’s what Casey had to say about her experience:
“Maddie went above and beyond with everything she did with this rebrand. I wanted to make my site finally have a place to showcase all the different types of photography services I offer. With every update, she understood my vision and really brought it to life. There wasn’t any design aspect that was “untouchable,” she incorporated and played with all different colors and textures that are just so unique to my new branding. Maddie was incredibly patient with my timeline and never rushed through this project. 10000000% would recommend :)”
